Meet Sarah Willoughby
Yin & Hot Power Yoga Instructor
Sarah’s yoga journey began almost five years ago, the day she finally ignored the inner critic insisting she wasn’t flexible, strong or “yoga‑looking” enough. She pushed open the door of her local studio in Camden - delighted to find it unlocked - and stepped into a practice that would change her life.
What started as a search for physical benefits quickly became a deep exploration of yoga’s true purpose. Sarah discovered that yoga is far more than poses and sweat; it’s a 5,000‑year‑old practice designed to focus the mind, ease suffering and restore balance.
Her first hot yoga class triggered a panic attack, and although it wasn’t the last, it sparked a powerful inquiry. Why did this happen, and how could yoga become the tool to meet, understand and transform those moments? Through breath, mindfulness and presence, Sarah learned to stay with discomfort, soften into it, breathe through it and ultimately release it.
Three years later, she completed her 200‑hour Yoga Teacher Training - initially to understand yoga’s roots, not to teach. But the desire to share her learnings and build a conscious community became undeniable. She has since added 95 hours of Kids Yoga and Yoga Therapy training, offering her teachings with compassion, humility and a deep love for the practice.
Yin Yoga
With Sarah Willoughby
Yin Yoga is the practice of slowing down and creating space. It works gently into the body’s deep layers; fascia, ligaments and joints, through long, supported holds. Rather than building heat or strength through Yang, Yin invites stillness, softness and mindful release. It’s a grounding, meditative practice that helps you unwind physically and mentally.
What to Expect in a Yin Class
Floor‑based poses held for 3 - 7 minutes
A calm, quiet, introspective atmosphere & short meditations
Props for comfort and support
Slow transitions with time to settle
“Rebounds” between poses to feel the energetic shift
No rushing, no pushing - just space to breathe and soften
Why Everyone Needs Yin
Modern life is fast, full and yang‑driven - Yin provides the essential counterbalance
Supports joint health and hydrated fascia
Improves mobility and long‑term flexibility
Helps regulate the nervous system and reduce stress
Builds emotional resilience by teaching stillness and presence
Offers a deep reset for body, mind and wellbeing
If this sounds like a class you want to avoid, that simply means you are the one who needs it most - and with time you will appreciate it more than you ever thought possible.
Yin isn’t just stretching; it’s a powerful pause in a busy world and even busier minds.
